How You Build It

How you run your business now is how you will KEEP running your business.

Just like you can’t create peace by waging war, you can’t create a conscious, aligned business through the old methods.

You are seeking to create something new. We NEED new business systems to replace the old 🦕ones.

We need YOU to do it… and to do it from day one. Build it in the way you want it to run.

It takes constant connection to what you are seeking to create - not just the business output, but the vibe of operations too. Having your entire business be a part of the new consciousness.

It starts with you.

Your thought work, your healing, your de-conditioning. It takes you connecting deeply with WHO YOU ARE at your BEST, and with your SOUL LEVEL DESIRES that show up in your business. It’s why you invested in this business or job in the first place. Don’t let the process get co-opted by old paradigms. Stay vigilant (which sounds exhausting but actually it’s the most energizing thing you can do). You are creating something new, something the world desperately needs.

I recently tried to offer two non-profits a free 2-hour training. These are non-profits I know well, and the offer was aligned with their work –- a communications training, which is quite frankly aligned with any non-profit that does public outreach, and super timely as the “go” season is ramping up (aka, the season when meaningful outreach stories are collected).

Both said their staff doesn’t have time, and one said that my rates are too high. (They had asked my rates, so I told them, but I had already told them my only need for this training was to cover the venue cost, which was nominal, <$100. I also clarified afterwards that I was offering this training to them for free, although if they have funding for it, of course I will gladly accept!)

I’m not whining about this.

Clearly I didn’t pitch my offer in a way that made the value clear. I own that.

But I’m also really curious about the mindset that would make a FREE offer, that takes 2-3 hours on an afternoon, inaccessible.

🤷‍♀️

I LOVE doing work with social innovation non-profits. 20 years in non-profits, 15 of them in Alaska, built a real heart for mission-driven work, often done on a shoestring budget and a prayer. I’d like to support other non-profit leaders and rising leaders to succeed, through coaching, trainings, and consulting. The work I’ve done already in this vein is deeply soul-fulfilling. And so, I am dismayed at whatever energy this is that says, “Nope, can’t accept help, too busy for support, can’t afford free.”

I believe that how we run our businesses is how we create the world.

WHAT we create is important, but only equally so to HOW we create it. Because HOW we create, in turn, creates the relationship we have with life.

And what good is any product, any value given, if it comes from an unhealthy relationship with life?
